March

Hello March! Hello Spring! Can you believe that March is here? January is sooooo long isn’t it, and then February relatively quick and before you know it March is here already. The THIRD month of the year. Sometimes time does go very quickly.

Of course, this means that I have now completed two months of Project365 and have been living at my parents’ house for four months. (Just keeping a note of the running total ;-) ) There are Good Things to come from March though, in the form of moving back up to Leeds, living with my husband again ♥ in a lovely house just for us.

Hooray! I can’t wait to fill it with pretty things. I’ve already started a “Heather’s Wanties” list, and at the top of it was a big red bucket with stars on. I have been so excited about this bucket! My mum works in a posh cookshop and they had some feather dusters or something displayed in a lovely red bucket with stars on it. I’ve been after it for AGES but couldn’t have it because it was part of the display. Oh and the company don’t make them anymore. But yesterday, my mum found one in the stockroom! Presumably it hadn’t been sold because one of the stars is bubbly, but she bought it for me! So exciting. I know you all think I’m daft for being excited about this bucket, but seriously, isn’t it ace? I know you’re all jealous really ;-)

Isn’t it lovely? The photo doesn’t do the red-nosity justice unfortunately, but it is as red as a big red postbox.

Do you like the crocuses by the way? I went round the garden today to look for springlike things. It was fun, but didn’t take long - along with crocuses there were some shoots on this tree, and on this bush too …

… but that was about it. I only stayed outside long enough to do that, and hang out the washing, because the rabbits and guinea pig were going a bit bonkers because I was out there. Ah yes. Spring fever has also hit the rabbits and unfortunately we have a male and a female rabbit outside ( in different cages obviously, but they can see each other and KNOW that the other is out there) and they are just desperate to get to each other. So while I am outside they are both clamouring at their hutches trying to get my attention in the hope that I’ll let them out. Not a chance! Willow is in disgrace again - she threw her foodbowl down her stairs this morning and so when my mum tried to retrieve it with the broom Willow squeezed past the broom and hot footed it to Whiskey’s cage. Apparently it was like trying to get a jelly back into the cage because she’s such a roly poly bunny who doesn’t like being recaptured!

Oh and because we don’t use the garden in the winter the animals assume that a person in the garden = feeding time so the poor guinea pig is very confused as he keeps expecting food but getting a pat on the head instead.

There was loads of warmth in the sun - don’t you just feel like it’s been cold for sooooo long, and that it would never be warm again? Such a beautiful day today, lovely blue sky, but I really thought it was going to be a dud because it started out so foggy. This photo was taken at about 11 am coming back from Tesco:

But then, on the same journey home the sky miraculously became blue! Ahh lovely. Not so lovely was becoming stuck behind a lorry made from straw. Ah the joys of living in the countryside!

You may notice that there is a slight camber on this road! We followed it for aaaaaaages before we could overtake.

I quite wanted this to be my photo of the day but I took it with my (recently re-discovered) little point and click camera and so to me it doesn’t count. However it was a lovely lovely day and so it was no great hardship to go for a little stroll up the lane to get this photo instead …

Who doesn’t love trees and blue skies?

I didn’t get too far from the main road when I stopped at a gate and just stood there for ages and listened to how quiet it was. Really lovely. I think that I have a lot of “noise” in my life, even when I am at home just crocheting or something there is still noise from things like the fridge and the boiler. The only noise out here today was the birds in the hedge (LOADS of blue tits and chaffinches!) and some crows in the distance, along with general nature type noises.

Do you know, I started this post about two hours ago and I have lost my thread totally. I suppose to sum up - I love being outside, blue skies, SPRING is here! and I can’t wait to move back to Leeds with my husband, which is happening in eighteen days! Oh and happy birthday to Katherine at Peppermints and Poppies blog :-D

Great pictures! Isn’t it amazing when a dreary, foggy morning turns into such a beautiful blue sky day. Sadly, that did not happen here today. Very grey with rain and snow mix and not a trace of spring. Thanks for sharing your lovely, sunny pictures. So glad you’re on the countdown to your move back to Leeds.

  • what a lovely post!!! loving March so far, this weather is great! well not so sunny this morning, but last 2 days have been amazing!!
18 days, wow you must be so excited!! and by the way, think that bucket looks absolutely gorgeous!! Think red is my favourite colour, so it’s all good!

how exciting for you to be moving to your own little place… and Yorkshire too…lots of countryside up there lass!!

love the springy pictures, this is by far the best time of year…everything coming to life again after the looooong winter xx

  • Go Willow!!

March has been great so far hasn’t it - it’s like the calendar flipped over a day and the weather and everything decided to sort itself out.

    The red bucket is fab.u.lous.

And great news that there’s just 18 days til you and the hubby get to live together again, looking forward to seeing pictures of the new house coming together.

  • Love the bucket. It looks very American with the red background and white stars. I know it will look lovely in your new home. Enjoy your spring. Here in what is considered the “deep South” of the states we are still being hammered with snow. Today makes day 18 we have missed school due to the poor road conditions. This will make the second Saturday we will have classes. It is only half a day which is much better than making up a whole day on a beautiful summer day. Enjoy the sunshine!!!!

I went for a walk down to the beach after my lectures yesteday afternoon to make the most of the sun.. even though it really was starting to set by the time I got there. But I found these little garden type places near the seafront, and there were snowdrops, crocuses AND primroses there. I felt very countryish being able to name them while my friend just called them flowers :P
