Tea Party Two

Finally, a finished object on my blog! Hurrah for crochet! I made this a while ago but it needed steam blocking on the corners and I had to “outsource” that to a lovely friend because you all know my feelings on irons and ironing and that I don’t have one. I made this for a commission for a friend, but I was very slow with it and so I’m waiting to hear back as to whether it’s still wanted. It’s the same as the Tea Party Blanket I made a few years ago, only with more rounds on the border and it’s generally neater and better made as I’m better at crocheting now than I was however many years ago it was that I made the first one.

It’s Stylecraft Special dk on a 4mm hook in the following colour combinations:

Sherbet centre, Turquoise outer

Fondant centre, Pomegranate outer

Lavender centre, Violet outer

Saffron centre, Shrimp outer

Shrimp centre, Saffron outer

Spring Green centre, Aspen outer

Magenta centre, Plum outer

and then they are all edged in Cream.

I used this pattern to make the squares, and this technique to join them.

I tell you what, it was a joy to photograph this just now. There is NOTHING I like more than stripes and stripes of neat crochet stitches. And the corners? Phwoar. Ha. Maybe not “phwoar”, but they do look very pleasing.

  1. Heather that looks lovely, the colours are so pretty and I love your ‘edge’. I think that has become my favourite part of the blanket :) It is similar to a blanket I am just starting….I normally have 2 blankets on the go, one in grannies that I can do out and about and then a ripple or stripe that is too big to take anywhere!!

This is a lovely blanket. I must put one of these on my ever growing to do list.
I love the border and the colour combinations are perfect.

Beautiful blanket, is it for you?

Ah, you don’t have an iron? Are your views on ironing similar to mine, although I do iron some things. I never iron bedding and I don’t have polycotton, I never iron husbands work things, as he has a garage and gets yukky mukky, I only iron things that you can see.

Thank goodness for someone who hates to waste time on things that don’t matter. More important playing with kids and crocheting and other worthwhile things (walking in the park)

What a beautiful blanket the colours are gorgeous. I have to say love the views on ironing I hate ironing too and I only iron my own clothes if I have to, hubby has to do his own as for ironing bedding never in my house I’d rather be crocheting :)

  5. What a lovely blanket. Didn’t know you don’t own an iron. Not a quilter then – you would be pressing all the time! I don’t mind ironing especially if I am listening to the radio at the same time.
