Sunday Canal Walk

Last Sunday was a beautiful day. Such blue sky! The air was still cold but there was warmth in the sun. Me and TTB have been staying with my family (we came home yesterday) and we decided to go and have a walk along the canal while my mum went training. It was just perfect: the sky was blue with that hazy gradient from pale pinky-blue to deepest turquoise, the birds were singing as though they had been quiet for too long, a microlight lazily droned overhead, there was blossom on the trees, buds on the hedgerows and flowers underneath. We walked up to Varney’s lock and then sat while TTB had his snack, and then made our way back again. He told me about every bird he saw, and every bird he heard. Every dog, every car, every boat. A canal boat man waved to him as he went past, and then when we got back to the canoe club my mum’s friend gave him a chocolate biscuit. So lovely to have some sunny weather! It was the most beautiful day of the whole week and one I want to remember forever. How fortunate that I have twenty hundred photos of the blue sky then eh. ;-)

Love the blue sky :) I’m thankful that where I live in southeastern USA (North Carolina) we have a lot of blue skies and amazing weather. I always feel sorry for you Brits with all of your clouds and rain :( But of course you have these good bits, too =)

Beautiful photos, especially that one of mostly sky – such a gorgeous pure colour! I walked along the canal into the centre of Birmingham today, to the ICC; it was lovely but not as picturesque as your walk!! Love your gilet, they seem to be the must-have clothing item at the moment, perfect for this time of year :)

  4. This looks lovely Heather, what a wonderful day and such a fabulous location for your photos. Great to hear about your pootlings again. Karen x

  5. Wonderful photos, it’s amazing to actually feel a bit of warmth from the sun, soak up the blossom and all under that china blue sky. Let’s hope there are many more ‘good stroll’ days to come this Spring.

Glad you had lovely weather for your visit. Spring has definitely arrived, hasn’t it – it’s a treat to see the cherry blossom starting to come out.
