This Weekend

My daffodils bloomed and were joined by a pot of hyacinths

TTB and I delivered a birthday gift to Little B who very sweetly wished me a Happy Birthday :-)

I walked TTB through the park to try to get him to sleep

I tried to take a few “noticing things” photographs but then …

… sleep came! So I hotfooted it to Tesco to do my shopping during his nap. (Hat by Rach!) Incidentally I have become v obsessed with clubcard points now I have found my clubcard. I only had an online one but got sent an actual card just before I went into hospital and by the time I got out Andy had tidied up and the card vanished. But now I can get points in store too! Very exciting. I got really obsessed with Boots clubcard points a few years ago, it’s like a challenge to me to get the most points in the cheapest way. Eh, simple things and all that. (Yes I know it’s all for their market research and profiling really)

Dressed my boy in as many stripes as possible and noticed that this is the only babygrow that fits loosely and all the other ones are all tight! Right, 6-9 months here we come. (At what point is it not acceptable to dress my baby in babygrows? He is only 3.5 months old, I like him in babygrows more than real clothes because they are soooo much easier for me!)

I also took him out in the Ergo for the first time without him screaming which was ace although it was a bit odd walking with it and because the strap goes round my waist it gives me a MASSIVE bum so I’m gonna have to wear a coat over the top I think! Oh and we have ordered TTB a highchair too. I know he doesn’t need it for another month or so but there were only a couple left in stock so we just took the plunge. I have also ordered a “Ewan the dream sheep” in the hope that it will help him to sleep better, ie at all. Worth a try!

  1. Hi Heather, have you considered getting something which makes a gentle soothing noise to help ttb sleep? When my son was about this age, and sleep was getting desperate I bought a gadget that made gentle wave sounds and it did the trick. X

  2. love that tree branch, gorgeous colours – well noticed!! And as for the babygros – you go with whatever works for you both – you’ll know when he’s warm and comfy and he’ll sense that you’re more relaxed – win win!! xxx

  3. i used to have my daughter in babygrows til she was over a year old and pop her little dresses over the top! It was 33 yrs ago tho xxx

  4. Great pics and hearing soothing sounds is good to have.
Mine were in baby grows (all-in-ones) even when walking and
I am now a Granny!! Always go with easy ☺☺

  5. My children were in babygrows for a lot of months. Easy for parents, comfy for baby. I love the picture of TTB yawning!

  6. I love reading your posts about how your little man is coming along. I thought he looked a lot like you in a picture you put up the other day. My baby is a couple of months older than your son and thankfully sleeps well but my 12 yr old girl would not go for more than 2 hours at a time for 9 whole months and I’m not joking nearly killed me!!It is really hard when you don’t get enough sleep, but sounds like you have a good friend in Lucy. We put ‘lulabys’ in the youtube search and some fisherprice ones come up that baby enjoys. Take care xx

  7. I love babies in sleep suits rather than real clothes. I kept my little boy in sleep suits as long as I could because I figured that once he got too big for them we could ever go back and he’d be in real clothes for the rest of his life. I’m planning on doing the same with my 2nd due in a couple of weeks. So I say go for it as long as you want. Love the stripes too

    Helen xx

  8. Dress your little man however you please, now that he can’t complain! ;) No, really: “real” clothes can be a hassle in someone so little, with all the diaper changing and burping and little accidents; one-piece clothing with easy access to important areas is key to a mom’s sanity, in my opinion.

  9. My boys were/are in babygrows for as long as possible, especially at night… they just look too grown up in proper pyjamas! Keep practising with the Ergo and you’ll soon be a pro :) Jigging around while getting little one settled in to any sling always helps, even if you do look a bit mad! And I just bought a great MaM poncho that goes over me and little man when he’s in the sling and covers any behind-related issues ;) Any kind of woollen wrap would do the same job too…

PS For all things babywearing/ sling-related, the Facebook group ‘Slings and Things – FSOT and advice’ is fab…

  10. Crawling was when I stopped babygros during the day. Crawling ruined the material on the knees. Then I dressed my boys in short leg onesies with denim or drill pants over the top and kept the babygros for night time until they were about 2 and didn’t need nappy changing at night. The main thing is to go with whatever is good for you. Keep up the good work, you’re doing really well with TTB.

  11. I remember wanting to keep my boys in babygros (at night at least) for as long as possible and was delighted when I found a place that did them in size 2-3yrs!!

  12. I’d say ditch the baby grows before he starts secondary school at the very latest ;) No, seriously, babies look so cute and comfy in baby grows, I’d go with it. He is very sweet. Hope this week is going well

  13. TTB is probably much more comfy in onsies than ‘clothes’ – I know I am! I don’t know anything about when you should dress your child in what, I do know my friend dressed her son in (admittedly very cute) tops and trousers when he was little, but he just didn’t look like a baby anymore and seemed to grow up so fast. Everyone says they do that (grow up fast I mean) so keep him little while you can :)

P.S we have the same Ikea bed cover, I wish they’d make another for the same price!

  14. I love seeing how TTB is coming along! My Little Man is 5 months older and it is amazing how quickly they change. I bought an Ergo after seeing it around a lot and think it’s brilliant.Glad TTB’s getting used to it. Abigail x

  15. Don’t spend your Clubcard vouchers in Tesco! If you go on the website, you can excahnge them for other things, and get much more for your money :)

  16. Babygrows rock! Keep him in them as long as you like :)
Don’t give yourself grief about him sleeping on his front either. I went through 8 weeks of hell with DS1 not sleeping in the day, inspite of being so tired, until I put him on his front. He’s 4 now and sstill sleeps in his front. DS2 didn’t seem to like being on his back either so he was on his front from birth. Both were big and could move their heads so I didn’t worry … After watching them like a hawk the first couple of times!!
I so love that blanket he’s on in that pick. I prefer striped blankets to make, not sure I could do with all that joining, but it’s so beautiful I might be persuaded!
