New Yarn

On Thursday I left work early for a Doctor’s appointment. I finished said appointment and stood momentarily in the car park, relishing the whole “not at work anymore” hour that was ahead of me. Not yet dark, but certainly on the way, before I could finish buttoning up my coat my feet had started walking and making steps to the Yarn Shop. I walked into the yarn shop and took a breath … ahhh, lovely yarn. I spent ten minutes choosing. Not Sublime, not Lang Merino, not Rico Merino dk (lush colours but I didn’t want dk, not today) and then I decided. I scooped up my three balls of yarn and hurried them to the counter. Three fat balls of Rico Soft Merino aran. Red, pink and purple. Warm colours. Soft and warm.

I don’t have a plan for these yet but they are cheering me up tonight, when I think of the potential things that I could use them for. Things are feeling a bit tough tonight (I am cold and tired with a head full up of pipes) and it’s nice to have a little patch of soft, bright colour to cheer me up a little.

Have just finished a set of wristwarmers which took me one evening only. The next part is to sew them up which I hate doing! Love the clours!

  5. My little daughter was looking over my shoulder at these photos earlier today and admiring the colors of your new yarn. I believer her exact words were “Oh Mommy, those are GORGEOUS.” Gorgeous is her new favorite word :)

  6. I hope you are feeling a little more sunny today, grey days do seem to bring about a saddening of our spirit. I love that a few balls of gorgeous wool can bring about some good feelings.

Dear Heather, I follow your blog (thanks to Lucy), and I love your projects. I have a week in bed recuperating and I can not crochet. When you see your balls of wool have given me joy. I hope you feel better. A hug from southern Spain.

  9. Oooo those colours are so perfect for this time of year, you’re right soft and snuggly, I’m sure you will create something beautiful with it!

  10. Is the DIY getting you down? I hope you’re feeling better today. Why not crochet yourself a hot water bottle cover – a hot water bottle is one way to keep warm when you have no heating!
