Today I have donated to The Red Cross appeal for the earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.

If you would like to donate as well, you can do so here: Red Cross Appeal

  1. This is a most wonderful thing you have done Heather. I’m sure you have little money to spare yourself with a new house to pay for and renovations. I so admire you for thinking of others and giving. This is the stuff that makes humans wonderful.
    Have a wonderful Sunday,

  2. Thanks for sharing the link. It’s all over the news here but I have the feeling it will be easily forgotten elsewhere so it’s great to see people talking about it :-)

This is a very worthwhile cause as they are always first on the scene anywhere in the world. I agree with Katie about comment that in the news and then forgotten and there seems to have been so many disasters in the last year or so.

Thank you for donating and sharing the link here. My sister, father in law and brother’s families are all in Chch. Luckily they are all fine physically but have lost homes and businesses. Everyone here was very shocked, we were all so lucky with the September quake to have no deaths but this has been so very different.

While the focus has been on the deaths until now (quite rightly of course), we are all coming to realise that so much of the basic infrastructure of the city has been damaged that life in Chch will be very different from here on. Many people still have no (tap) water, electricity or sewerage.

I feel that it is important to let people know that the Red Cross has been out there helping thousands of people right from the start and are providing a really invaluable service, one that everyone is incredibly grateful for.
